Most everyone I meet, whether it’s a patient or just a person in my life, everyone is tired, exhausted and cannot get enough sleep. We have all heard people talking about burnout, especially with the pandemic, work-from-home and how mentally exhausted it has actually been over the last few years.

Here comes the "uggghhh"!
I really do think that if you are experiencing very heavy levels of fatigue, you should seek help from a trained healthcare professional, whether that is your primary care physician, complimentary health care practitioner or Homeopath. In cases of general fatigue or diagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, all forms of medicine, whether CAM or Primary (allopathic) can bring different insight and assistance.
When I treat a patient suffering from the symptoms associated with Chronic Fatigue or Burnout, I always make sure they are willing to go all the way with me and that means LIFESTYLE CHANGE. I do not, actually I NEVER insist on drastic lifestyle change but I do insist that changes MUST be made. Here's the thing, we all have things in our lives which need adjustment for our health, don't care if you think your doing everything right, we all fall prey to the moderation monster.
Well here are my top picks for remedies that I have prescribed for fatigue related symptoms. As I always say, almost every remedy picture has the symptom you are describing or experiencing in a bubble, when we add all of the things that make you, you, we get the full picture and the best remedy selection.
China (Cina)

This is always the first stop of the remedy list when it comes to fatigue. This is also one of the remedies that has an overall picture of stagnation and congestion. The debility of this remedy is seen in the nervous system and with great loss of bodily fluids.
This patient will tend to be sore all over, they're so weak they can often believe that they are close to death and can be so tired and depleted that eating and drinking are too much.
Clinically, they will often has anemia or this weakness will be due to the remnants of a sickness that "took a lot out of them". When I say loss of fluids, there is often chronic diarrhea present after they have been sick or as a general symptom.
Aggravations: slight touch, milk, food, coffee and water tastes bitter.
Ameliorations: hard pressure, loose clothing, warmth and bending doubled, better at night.
Gelsemium

This remedy also sees its power centered in the nervous system, with a slow pulse, dizziness and delirium, lack or loss of muscular coordination and weakness. This is often seen after exposure to the sun (sunstroke) or extreme changes in weather, or from receiving bad news, fright or extreme excitement.
A person needing this remedy, when sick or unwell, wants to be left alone, they are irritable and easily excited but extremely sensitive to that excitement, meaning it makes them feel worse. They are n fact so sensitive to excitement or stress (for the purposes of our current world) that they will have diarrhea because of the stress.
With this remedy, I have often seen patients with very sluggish behavior and general states, have symptoms which translate into slowly increasing sickness. Meaning that, exposure to something today, for example being out in the sun during a heatwave, will mean they are slowly sick over the next few days with their symptoms increasing in intensity. In children, most notably, you will begin to see loss of coordination and or muscle weakness.
This is a remedy top of my list for caregivers , especially of young children. For this kid who isn't
thirsty in the summer heat, but irritable and quick to anger.
Aggravations: bad news or emotional excitement, approach of a storm or heat of the sun, changes in weather.
Ameliorations: perspiration, continued motion, rest and urination.
Last but not least Lycopodium.

This is one of the remedies I often forget about, because in all honestly, I haven't prescribed it much over the years. Why? You may ask… Because those I have treated have always had indications that point towards Phosphorus, Calcarea Carb or Sulph and not Lycopodium.
This remedy is great for those in the extremes of life as they say, the young and the old. I tend to look for digestive issues for this remedy to really work. If a patient is experiencing fatigue, it will often be linked to inability to assimilate nutrients or digestive weakness. Without this crucial symptom, I have found that this remedy nearly never works in a person experiencing fatigue.
Now, the other 3 remedies I listed above, as I said earlier, also have symptoms associated with malabsorption, but not the way we see it in Lycopodium, although very similar. The fatigue and weakness we see in this remedy is much more severe and intense.
Aggravations: between 4 and 8pm, pressure from clothes and extreme weather changes, but especially warmth, they are always worse in a warm room.
Ameliorations: warm drinks, after midnight, loosening clothing.
Note; Calc. Carb., Sulphur, Phos., and Lycopodium all have an affinity for the right side, it is always important to find out how a person experiences symptoms of their right side or if they find relief by laying or applying pressure to the right side of the body to help with part of the differential diagnosis.
If you have any questions or comments about the remedies discussed above, please feel free to comment below of reach out. I am a believer that every practitioner and person finds different remedies work or can be used differently in practice or at home and I am always open to discussion about Homeopathic Remedies and their uses**
